How far can your patience go when something goes wrong with your internet service provider? How about twenty days of no DSL connection on your Internet Cafe? How would you handle it?
Last July 21, 2007 saturday our Greendot DSL connection went down. Actually, not just me but all of their clients/Icafes nearby. At first I thought it is just a minor downtime. Then came afternoon still no internet I reported it to their tech support. Then next day came still no internet connection. I called back and only to find out that they don’t have field engineers during weekends here in binan Laguna. For me two days of downtime is still fine with me. Came Monday and I was expecting the internet will be fixed by afternoon but no luck. They cannot even tell me what the problem was. I suspected it was something to do with their DSL cable.
After five days still no progress. All I get from their phone support was “they are still investigating the problem”. That long? Am I still COOL about this? Yes, I am. After 6 days of no DSL connection from Greendot DSL/ PT&T I decided to inquire and subscribed to DIGITEL DSL. Of course I still need to wait for several days before my Icafe will be connected back to the Internet. For the record it took only 1 day my digitel landline to be connected and 10 days before digitel were able to connect my I-cafe back online. And Greendot DSL was still down during that time.
Here are the worst parts of this plight.
1. The persons (two of them) who came here almost 4 years ago and encouraged me to get DSL from them didn’t bother to even reply back to my SMS and calls.
2. The official support contact numbers of Greendot DSL doesn’t work or always busy after 7 days from the first time I called for help. So, I have nobody to call from 7th day to the 20th day.
3. Their DSL cables were stolen. This is the main reason of this issue but I just can believe it why it took them 20 days before they were able restore their Internet DSL? Actually, till now I don’t know if they are already online. I just assumed since someone from their side texted me.
4. IÂ still received a new billing statement. Why? (I didn’t paid it and planning to visit their branch near my location and make it official for discontinuing the service.)
5. The two persons I’m talking about now texted me and explained to me. Wow! At last! After 20 days! Thank you
Why didn’t I get a second DSL as my backup? Before I do have a backup line but with the very cheap rate of internet per hour in our erea I disconnected it 2 years ago. So, thats it.
AM I STILL COOL? of course not. malaki kaya nawala sa akin lalo na yung mga malalaking Internet Cafe dito. But at the end of the day di pa rin eto maging dahilan para mag mumuk ako buong buwan.
