Fight Wordpress Comment Spam

I have an OPM Lyrics website which I started last February. At some point I stopped updating it then came April, that’s the time I gave more of my time and religiously updating it. The website traffic then improves and later on spammers found the website. Eventually, spam comments were increasing from like 10 comments to hundreds then right now it is hitting thousands spam comments a day. To fight this spam I enabled akismet plugin for wordpress to at least minimize spam comments but still I’m getting hundreds of it everyday minus what the spam buster has eliminated. It’s really time consuming to delete those spam comments every now and then and worse once I missed deleting it for a  day it just accumulates so fast. Its even harder to delete it in the long run.
I think I need to scout the web and find additional ways to battle wordpress comment spam. Does anyone know a better solution for this?
